We are a community church open to all who wish to join us in worship and in fellowship with others. All are welcome.

Starting Sunday, September 13th, 2020 – Hotchkiss Community United Methodist Church will gather at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. Masks and social distancing are required. See below for worship procedures in Hotchkiss.  We will reopen the sanctuary for in-person worship on September 13th, 2020 with the following precautions in place. The service will be livestreamed also.

  • We will worship in our sanctuary at 10 a.m. Sundays beginning September 13, 2020.

  • Attendance is limited to 50 percent of sanctuary fire code capacity.

  • All attendees will conduct a self-assessment prior to entering the church building. A Self-assessment includes the following:

    • Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?

    • Have you had a fever of 100.4 degrees in the last 48 hours?

    • Are you experiencing a cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat?

    • Persons who answer yes to any of the above questions or people who are having symptoms of COVID-19–as well as persons who have had close contact with a person who has symptoms like dry cough, chest tightness, and/or fever – must refrain from participating in in-person services.

  • Face masks are required for all attendees. Masks must be worn properly at all times If you cannot or will not wear a mask, please worship with us online or via our FM transmitter.

  • We will practice social distancing at all times. Seating spaces will be marked in the pews so we can all maintain six feet of separation. 

  • Sit only with those who live in your household. 

  • Lines on the floor will be marked to help attendees maintain six-feet of separation while entering or exiting the building. 

  • Fellowship Hall will be closed. 

  • Hand sanitizer will be available for all attendees. Please sanitize your hands as you enter the building.

  • There will be no attendance pad passed during worship; however, a volunteer will record the names of all in attendance in the event that contact tracing in needed. 

  • Restrooms will be available in the church basement. 

  • Sanitizing supplies will be available in the restroom so you can sanitize surfaces before and after using the restroom.

  • There will be no hymn singing during worship. Music will be a time of meditation and/or silent reflection.

  • There will be no “call and response” such as our Call to Worship. This is to minimize the aerosol droplets that we might exhales while singing or speaking loudly. 

  • We will not pass the peace. 

  • We will not pass the offering plate. There will be a place to drop your offerings as you enter or exit worship.

  • There will be no hymnals, pew Bibles, offering envelopes, or writing utensils in the pews. 

  • Please enter through the large wooden double doors at the top of the stairs.

  • Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes early. 

  • Please depart immediately upon conclusion of worship. 

  • The building will be sanitized once a week following CDC guidelines. 

  • The building will not be open for groups or meetings between worship.

Worship at Home Mailings
Many of our church participants are unable to join us for in-person worship and do not have internet access to participate in our online worship offerings. We continue to mail a Worship at Home guide every two weeks. This mailing contains brief reflections of the previous two sermons. If you or someone you know would like to be added to this mailing, please contact the church office at 872-3540 or email – hotchkisscumc@gmail.com.

Mail-in Offerings and Tithes
During each of our  in-person worship gatherings we will not pass an offering plate; however, there will be an offering box or offering plate available as you enter each worship space on Sunday morning. You may drop your offering there as you enter or exit worship. For those who are not comfortable dropping off their offering before or after worship or for those who are worshipping with us online, via the radio, or with our Worship at Home mailing, you may mail your offering in to the church office using the addresses below.

HOTCHKISS FOOD BANK at the Methodist Church at 2nd & Orchard

We have been and continue to be open to provide nutritional food for those in need of assistance. Our pantry is stocked. We are continuing our CURBSIDE only pick up due to COVID-19 restrictions. Please CALL 872-3540 & leave a message with phone number and name. We will return your call on Tuesday from 9am-12pm. Pick up times are on Wednesday between 10am-12pm. Your food request will be delivered to you at curbside, only. Our doors remain locked. THANK YOU!!!! Be Safe

This is every other Sunday, September-May. Children will be excused after ‘Story for All Ages’ during the Worship Service for their Sunday School. All children are welcome.
