Welcome to our site!

Our mission – “Celebrate and Share Christ with our community and throughout our world.”

We are a community church open to all who wish to join us in worship and in fellowship with others. All are welcome.

Our church address is 285 North 2nd St., Hotchkiss, CO.  81419

Where in our community is God calling us to serve?? How are we sharing God’s Love??

It is time for us to return to online/distance worship and/or other safer forms of worship, study and fellowship. effective November 22, 2020 through at least January 31, 2021.

1. Beginning this Sunday, November 22 we will not meet in our buildings. Rev. Josh will record his message by video and post that to our churches’ Facebook pages and distribute that video via the email list.

2. Sundays at 10 a.m. Rev. Josh will host a ZOOM video/phone call for us to share in a Call to Worship, Opening Prayer, Joys and Concerns, and Lord’s Prayer together. He will have the words of the liturgy viewable on the screen for those using a computer. He will also email copies of the liturgy prior to the ZOOM gathering for those who may be gathering via phone. He will email this information on Wednesday afternoon.

3. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March we have been mailing out twice monthly printed summaries of my messages to people who cannot view worship online. If you or someone you know would like to added to this mailing list, please email jlhpastor@gmail.com with name and mailing address.

4. Starting next week Rev. Josh will continue his weekly pastoral phone calls as a way of staying in touch with church members. If you know of someone to add to the church phone call list, someone whose information in the church telephone directory is out of date, or someone who has a pressing prayer concern, please email jlhpastor@gmail.com with the information.

Lent Outdoors: Waiting in the Wilderness — Pastor Josh is excited to share six weeks of outdoor activities that can help us make deeper connections to the the stories of Lent. Each week will will meet outdoors for a scripture reading, an activity, and a worship ritual. Check out the schedule below and watch more more details each week. These ministries are open to people of all ages.

Sunday, February 21 meet at Erikson Springs winter trailhead at noon. We will snowshoe or cross country ski to the Raggeds Wilderness boundary while remembering Jesus’ 40 days in the wilderness.

Saturday, February 27 meet at Ward Creek trailhead at noon to sled. On the way home we will stop at Cedaredge Observation Point and consider what it means that the ends of the earth shall turn to the Lord.

Sunday, March 7 meet in Apple Valley Park at 1 p.m. to make and fly kites as we consider what it means that the heavens declare God’s glory. We will also create sand art which we will then blow away as we think about Jesus cleansing the temple.

Sunday, March 14 meet at Paonia Town Park at 1 p.m. to make sundials and bake communion bread in solar ovens (it is the start of daylight savings time after all!). We will remember that the redeemed are gathered from the east, west, north and south with a directional prayer.

Sunday, March 21 meet at Night Owl Food Forest at 1 p.m. for bibliodrama, landscape exploration, and seed ball making as we remember Jesus’ teaching about seeds falling to the earth.
